This donation is aimed at helping the Family Place achieve the target of $ 2.8 million that had been put in place earlier. James Dondero also said that this donation would be run through the Highland Dallas Foundation. This is the philanthropic arm of Highland capital management and is used to give back to the society. The charity organization will match 50 % of the money raised by the family place. However, there is a restriction of $1 million and must not be beyond 4th April 2017.
The donation was in response to cries by well-known public servants such as the Dallas Mayor Mike Rawlings as well as Dallas police Chief David Brown. These two had called on the public to help deal with these issues. The new building will be called Ann Moody Place and will help improve serve victims by an increased capacity of 2000.
